Where: Sunset salon/spa.
Friday afternoon always brought Lorian joy, to see Ivey come racing into the salon and then be greet with a coffee from Dom was a welcome release from the long week he had dealt with." Hey Twinkle." Lorian said with a grin as he picked up Ivey and sat her on a chair so she could climb on to his back" Where's mamma?" He asked and looked round to see Dominque walking through the door. " You better have a coffee for me or I will not give you your child back." He joked and then put Ivey down and took her to a small area for children to play. "How's things?" He asked as he looked at Dom's hair. " Sit. I need to give those bangs a trim." He said and pulled out a chair. " need me to babysit this little monkey tomorrow night? "
x
Dominique wasn't sure who loved Lorian more these days: her or Ivey. The little girl saw the spa and the second she did, she screamed Lorian's name and basically flew out of the car to race inside. "Ivey!" She called after, but it was too late. She rolled her eyes as she grabbed the coffees and went inside the spa. "When do I ever come without coffee?" She asked curiously and handed him the drink while she looked over to make sure Ivey was good. "They're good. I have something to tell you though." She smiled at him before sighing. "You don't have to do that. My hair is fine." She knew arguing about that was futile, but she had to try. "Probably not, but you can come over anyways. We can do a movie night."
18. the moon : what does your muse long for ? is it a realistic desire ?
Dominique longs for happiness. Right now, she's very content in her life. She loves her job and, of course, Ivey, but she is content. She's fine if things never go passed the way they are now, but she longs to be truly happy. She feels every time she is about to get that happiness, something comes and takes it away. So, with liking Christian and even going on a date with him, she is ultimately worried she'll lose him like she did Julien and deep down, she's worried she'll lose Ivey too like she lost her birth family. It is a realistic desire, but she needs to be shown everything is going to be okay before she truly feels like she's achieved it.
mateoxperez:
Mateo chuckled as Nala turned to the young girl to begin to take in the mess that was on her as well. "It's not a problem, really," he shrugged his shoulders. The man couldn't imagine being upset about what had happened. "You know, that must be a mom thing, I remember my mom doin' that growing up. She always had to have it looking as new as when she bought it." Mateo joked with the woman, "Again, no need to apologize." He smiled at her, "Life is bound to be messy at times, right?"
x
She laughed softly as she finished cleaning Ivey and standing back up. "Possibly. I learned early when I got jam on my clothes that I would help my mom make." She explained with a smile. "I think I'm more easy going about it all since I know how messy kids can be. After all, I work with them all day." Dominique grinned. "That's definitely true. And at least is a smoothie and not paint. I'm used to that one."
alexdrakos:
If there was ever a time when Alex wanted to use his status as a professional athlete to get something out of life, it would probably be right about now. A couple of seats up from them was a couple, the man started to snore and Alex wondered how long they'd been waiting as he watched their partner jab him in the ribs. The action elicited a laugh from the guy before he turned to look at Dominique again. She seemed… disillusioned at best. That seemed to be the most common expression in a crowded and stuffy DMV waiting area. "Been here long?" He half expected to see her daughter running amuck but nothing yet. "I don't think I've ever seen you without Ivy." He pointed out easily, trying to make the best of their small talk.
x
The woman had seen the man falling asleep and smiled as his wife woke him up before raising her eyebrow to look at Alex. "Yeah. All morning, actually." She told him. She felt like she should've brought snacks and something more to do than just going through Instagram. IF she had Ivey, she would've brought these things, but she hadn't expected this to go as long as it had. "Usually I do have her, but I dropped her off at the daycare before coming out here. I figured without her, I could get in and out, but apparently not."

It wasn't hard to tell that Dom had been having a rough go of it recently and if it was glaringly obvious to anyone in the world, it was a sister. So, Natalia had arranged absolutely everything to give Dominique a day free from stress and responsibilities. Aside of course from the responsibility to consume some very delicious win if she so chose. As their first tasting flight arrived, the principal glanced across at her sister to try and get a read on her vibe at the moment. "Ready for a drink?" She asked, offering a smile
x
The last few months were definitely hard on Dominique, but things were getting better. The winter season was always one that gave her nightmares and then the anniversary of Julien's death came and she was unable to go to New York, so that added to it all. But things were feeling better now and she actually went on a date with a man she really liked and she was excited about it. And now she was spending time with her sister while wine tasting and she felt a little more normal now. "I am." She said and smiled as they got their first glass. She wasn't one to drink often, but here and there was always nice. "So, I have to tell you something."
missruby-austin:
She looked at her friend smiling sympathetically. "Well if you did it once, you can do it again I'm sure. Besides, you're a lot more charming than you give yourself credit for, Dom." she let out a sigh and shrugged. "They aren't for me, but usually a little liquid courage helps, I'm not gonna lie." she grinned, and thought about how that seemed to be how she met men, at least in her adult years. Usually at a bar or party or something with alcohol involved. Not that she wasn't confident when she didn't drink, but it definitely eliminated the fear of rejection. She shrugged once more. "To be fair, my situation is different from yours. I just got used and dumped. Divorced." she corrected herself. "You lost someone you loved." she looked at her in silence for a few seconds before a small smile appeared on her face. "I mean, I'm usually the bad influence as the oldest in my family." she had always tried to be the opposite for sister and her cousins who she had mothered since they were babies, but many times she slipped up.
x
"I am?" She asked curiously, not really finding herself to be charming at all. Or even that good at socializing. She used to be better at this whole thing, but losing the man she loved really brought her down out of fear of losing someone again. "I can imagine." Dominique said, but she still didn't drink often or go out like that. Maybe she needed to. "I know. I guess I'm just unsure how to do all this, you know?" She always felt between not ready to try to move on and that she should've been ready already. "I guess I wouldn't know." She said, not being the oldest on either side of her family.
christianxcoleman:
"Good," that was all that he wanted for the woman. If she were still afraid, he would call off the hot air balloon immediately, bringing them back to the ground. However, it seemed that they were continuing on. As Dominque held onto him still, though with a less fearful grip, he rested his arm around her. It was more natural and comfortable for him than he could have imagined. For the last several years, Christian had only spent moments with women that were fleeting. He had not intention of them growing into anything else, but with Dominique it was different. "I'm glad you think so," he smiled at her, hoping that their first date would be one to remember. His gaze following her point, he felt his smile growing, "Well look at that," he chuckled softly, "do you think Ivey is making us some jam?"
x
Dominique grinned and took a deep breath as she felt more settled now. "Of course I do." She grinned at him before laughing. "Maybe. She was awfully jealous, though, I got to come spend time with you on my own." She admitted to him and looked back into his eyes. "She really loves you, you know? You, her grandpa, and her uncle are her favorite men and she's lucky to have you all. We both are." She said softly and felt her heart begin to race again.
melisaosmcn:
The nice thing about living in Fallbrook was that the rent was so much cheaper than what she had been paying in New York. For once she felt like she wasn't drowning in her bills. So, it was nice to not have to work two or more jobs, and she could just relax with her photography. When she got the call to do some portraits of a little girl on a farm, she agreed. The directions were easy, though she had been gone for five years, Melisa was still a Fallbrook native and knew the town like the back of her hand. Pulling up to the farm house, she got out of the car and spotted the woman sitting on the front steps. "Nice to meet you Dominique." Melisa smiled as she got out of the car and came over. She knew of the Hargraves family, but had never really been close to any of the members, Dominique included. "Oh, yeah. It was easy to find. I'm still familiar with Fallbrook." She gave a small chuckle.
x
She grinned. "Nice to meet you too." The woman said and nodded. "Right, of course. I just feel I could get lost getting here sometimes. I love the farm, but it's so out of the way." She laughed softly. "Thank you for doing this. I try to get pictures of her once a year, and so far, got some good pictures the last two years, so…" She shrugged and smiled at her. "I figured we'd go to the barn and so something down there? The goats just had babies so I think it'd be cute getting some pictures of her with them, but of course, whatever ideas you have too."
christianxcoleman:
Christian's heart skipped a beat as she wrapped her arms around him as the hot air balloon began to lift off the ground. Though he was nervous himself, for a lot of reasons, he didn't let it show. His arms remained around her, holding her against him as Fallbrook grew smaller and smaller beneath them. "I can't believe how beautiful this is," he was talking both about the view and Dominque. "Are you doing okay?" The hot air balloon moved quickly into the sky, but it barely moved them as they stood in it. "I've actually never done this," Christian admitted to her, "but I've always wanted to, so it seems fitting that we are doing it together."
x
She was in awe of this. She had never in her life thought about going on a hot air balloon ride, but this was definitely amazing. She stared off at the town below her and nodded in agreement to his words. "I know. It's amazing." She said and looked up at him. "Yeah. I'm great." Dominique assured him, but she was still holding on to him. Her grip had loosened up and now it was more like she was cuddling him than holding on out of fear. "I never thought about this, but it's amazing, Christian." She said and took a deep breath. She was feeling calmer and more herself as they were like this. She hadn't felt like this in such a long time. She looked out again and smiled as she pointed in the distance. Look, you can kinda see my parents farm from here."
calmeyers:
"Erm, yeah–sounds so–ugh simple when you put it like that." He would've chuckled at the thought but he didn't have much to chuckle about at the moment given his state of affairs. Or maybe it was just that he was also hungry–or hangry rather. "Oh–um–" Cal was ready to protest, not feeling comfortable nor trusting of anyone, especially when it came to his daughter. But she was connected the preschool in town somehow right? "Ah, yeah, I suppose so. You are probably pretty good with little girls huh?"
x
She smiled and shrugged. "I've had time to think about these things." She said softly and saw the hesitation from the man, so she went carefully as she moved her daughter in to play with the other little girl. She wanted to show him she was okay, but could understand the hesitation. She had that too with people. "I am. Helps having this one." She grinned and looked at her daughter. "But I have a lot of experience with kids working at the daycare." She explained. "I'm Dominique, by the way. Dominique Hargraves."

biography
PAST ~Dominique was the youngest of the Willows family and was a surprise child to her parents. Her mother honestly thought she was sick until she found out she was pregnant. ~There was a fifteen year age difference between her and her brother, Damon, but she quickly became like his shadow and he took her everywhere. ~When she was four years old, she woke up to her brother coming into her room Christmas night and telling her to stay there no matter what. After that, she heard several bangs before he came back in, saying how much he loved her, before leaving and the final bang coming from the hall. She found out later that he killed their parents and then himself. ~She was found in the morning by police and then was put into foster care. She became a very quiet child and kept to herself. She even had nightmares about what happened on Christmas. ~After a few months, the Hargraves started coming in to see her and got her to open up a little bit. It was during their fifth visit with her that they decided to adopt her, moving her to the outskirts of Fallbrook onto their farm. ~She was still pretty quiet for a while as she got used to everything at the Hargraves home, but eventually came out of her shell and became a lively child. ~Her favorite thing to do on the farm was ride horses. She could spend all day out with them and felt free when she was. However, she could also be found in the garden and helping out at the farmer's market. ~As she got older and became a teenager, she decided to go to public school to experience that. She ended up liking it and quickly fell into the "typical teenager" category with going to parties and even ending up on the cheerleading squad. ~With the different ways she was taught growing up from homeschooling to public school, Dominique fell in love with teaching and after graduating high school, she went to college nearby to get her degree in education; not unlike some of her adopted siblings. She was very focused on her studies, but did go out every now and then. ~During this time, she met a guy named Julien and they started seeing each other. She fell for him hard and once they were both out of school, they got a place together in Fallbrook and were completely wrapped up in each other. ~She got a job as a preschool teacher while Julien worked as a grade school teacher and they loved having the same schedule and being able to come home together. ~Everything was going so well for them and of course, after years of being together, they got questions about when they were going to get married, but the two shrugged it off and figured that one day they would. ~However one day never came as during a trip to New York for their anniversary, they were talking down the street and got mugged. Julien tried fighting the man, but the guy shot him and ran. Dom screamed for help and an ambulance came, but by the time they got to the hospital, Julien was dead. ~The woman was a mess when she got home and ended up taking time off work before moving back in with her parents. For a while, she couldn't get out of bed and her family became very concerned about her; especially when she started getting sick. ~Finally, she went to the doctor to see what was going on and it turned out she was pregnant. The news was shocking, but knowing she still had a piece of Julien with her gave her a little comfort. ~That following October, she gave birth to a little girl that she naved Ivey Julia Hargrave-Davis and she quickly became the woman's world.
PRESENT ~Dominique returned to work a few months after having Ivey and loves that she can bring her daughter, now almost three, to work with her. ~She got her own place with her daughter in the downtown area of Fallbrook. ~On weekends, she tends to go to the Farmer's Market and helps her family sell things still there and she goes to the farm all the time with Ivey to see the horses and garden. ~She's very rarely seen without her daughter and tends to panic when she's without her.
